2011

September - Royal Assent to the Pensions Act 2011

October

- Ending of the default retirement age

11 - DWP consultation ‘Workplace Pension Reform – Completing the legislative framework for Automatic Enrolment closes


2012

4 April – Lifetime pensions allowance reduces from £1.8million to £1.5million

July - Largest employers allowed to start auto-enrolling employees on a voluntary basis


2016

October - End of employer pension staging period and increase in statutory minimum pension contributions to 5% for employers and employees

2017

October - Full statutory minimum pension contributions for all employers and employees

DWP to review NEST and possibly the success of automatic enrolment

2018

November - State Pension Ages equalised at age 65 for males and females

2020

April - State Pension Ages rise to age 66
